Outcomes Lab is a registered NDIS provider delivering positive behaviour support across Melbourne, clinically led by founder Julian Vilsten, a Clinical Neuropsychologist and Specialist Behaviour Support Practitioner. We work with behaviours of concern by understanding what they communicate, then changing the environment and building the skills that make them no longer necessary.

When the support isn't working

You already know what good behaviour support looks like. The provider who returns your calls. The plan support workers actually use. The reports that hold up at plan review. And you know what it's like when none of that happens. Cases that go quiet. Generic plans, written for the auditor, that no one can actually use. Funding spent on documentation that changes nothing for the person it's meant to help.

What Positive Behaviour Support actually involves

Behaviour is communication. Behaviours of concern are usually telling us that something in a person's world isn't working. So rather than trying to shut the behaviour down, we work out what it's saying, change what's around the person, and build the skills they need, until the behaviour is no longer the only way they can be heard.

Understand the why

We start with a functional assessment. We observe, collect data, and work out the unmet need behind the behaviour. We don't guess.

Deliver the intervention

We write the plan, then we do the work. We coach the support network so the strategies actually get used, and we change what isn't working.

Build skills, change the setting

We support practical skills and strategies that make day-to-day life easier, working with the person, their routines, their environment, and their support network.

Reduce restrictive practices safely

Where restrictive practices are in place, we make sure they're authorised and reported correctly, then plan their exit as the person builds the skills to stay safe without them.

What you can count on

CLINICALLY LED

Founded and led by a Clinical Neuropsychologist

Complex behaviour often comes from complex neurology, so our clinical lead reviews and supervises cases like acquired brain injury and dual disability to make sure the approach fits the person's cognitive profile and support needs.

COMFORTABLE WITH COMPLEXITY

We don't step back from hard cases

Most of the people we work with have complex presentations. We're set up for high-complexity needs and risk, and we build a team around them.

THE RIGHT MATCH

The right clinician, not the next available

We use a Director-Led intake process to match each person to a practitioner with the right experience, not just an open slot in the calendar. And we come to you, seeing people where the behaviour actually happens.

Where we work

Mobile positive behaviour support across Melbourne

We're a mobile service, so we come to you, at home, at school, at work, or in the community, because that's where behaviour actually happens. Seeing someone in their own environment tells us far more than a clinic room ever could.

We currently support Dandenong, Noble Park, Berwick, Frankston, Springvale, Glen Waverley, Ringwood, Clayton, Cranbourne, Pakenham, Richmond, Brunswick, Box Hill and surrounding areas, with growing coverage across inner, north and north-east Melbourne.
