When the support isn't working

You already know what good behaviour support looks like. And you know what it's like when none of that happens.

What good support looks like

  • The provider who returns your calls
  • The plan support workers actually use
  • The reports that hold up at plan review

When it isn't working

  • Cases that go quiet
  • Generic plans, written for the auditor, that no one can actually use
  • Funding spent on documentation that changes nothing for the person you support

POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR SUPPORT

What positive behaviour support includes

Behaviour is communication. Behaviours of concern are usually telling us that something in a person's world isn't working. So rather than trying to shut the behaviour down, we work out what it's saying, change what's around the person you support, and build the skills they need, until the behaviour is no longer the only way they can be heard.

  • Functional behaviour assessment (FBA)

We observe, talk with everyone involved and gather data to understand what a behaviour is doing and what's driving it: the environment, the triggers and the unmet needs.

  • Behaviour support plan (BSP)

An NDIS-compliant plan written as a practical guide, with strategies everyone providing support can use day to day.

  • Training and coaching

Hands-on sessions for families, support workers and the wider team, with the plan adjusted when something isn't working.

  • Restrictive practice review

Authorisation and reporting checked, and a plan to reduce and fade restrictive practices safely as new skills develop.

BUILT FOR COMPLEXITY

Why families and coordinators choose Outcomes Lab

Outcomes Lab was set up for people whose support needs are complex, often where other services haven't worked.

  • We stay after the plan

Funded hours go to intervention, coaching your team and adjusting the plan, not just writing a report.

  • Director-led intake

Every referral is checked for clinical fit, and we tell you if we're not the right fit.

  • Neuropsychologist-led supervision

Our clinical director, a Clinical Neuropsychologist and Specialist Behaviour Support Practitioner, supervises the team and brings that lens to complex cases.

  • Reports that help at plan review

Written for the NDIA and for the people who will actually use them.

OUR TEAM

Who you'll work with

Neuropsychologists, psychologists and behaviour support practitioners, led by our clinical director, a Clinical Neuropsychologist and Specialist Behaviour Support Practitioner.

Every practitioner is registered with AHPRA or the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. We hire for skill and integrity, then back people with regular supervision and training, so they can do their best work and stay.

No one works on a complex case alone. Our clinicians talk cases through together, so you get more than one perspective on what will help.

Questions we're often asked

Can I get positive behaviour support at home in Geelong?

Yes. Our mobile team covers Geelong and surrounds, so we come to you, at home, school, work, or in the community. Seeing someone where the behaviour actually happens tells us more than a clinic room can.

Where can I get positive behaviour support in Geelong?

You can contact a registered NDIS provider directly, no referral needed. Outcomes Lab delivers neuroaffirming positive behaviour support across Geelong and surrounds as a mobile service, clinically led by a Clinical Neuropsychologist.

Do I need a referral for behaviour support?

No, you don't need a referral. You can contact us directly. We accept self-referrals, private referrals, and referrals from support coordinators and schools.

How is Positive Behaviour Support funded under the NDIS?

Behaviour support comes from your Capacity Building budget, under Behaviour Support (previously Improved Relationships). We work with agency-managed and plan-managed plans.

Who is eligible for NDIS positive behaviour support?

Anyone with behaviour support funding in their NDIS plan can access it. It's often part of the support for autistic individuals, and for people with intellectual disability, ADHD, acquired brain injury or psychosocial disability.

Do you work with complex presentations?

Yes. Most of the people we work with have complex needs, and we're set up for high-risk situations and restrictive practices. Our intake is director-led and our clinical team is led by a Clinical Neuropsychologist, so experienced clinical thinking shapes the work from the first conversation.

What's your approach to reducing restrictive practices?

Reducing, and ideally fading, restrictive practices is always the goal, but the pace depends on the person you support and what keeps them safe. Where restrictive practices are in place, we make sure they're authorised and reported correctly, then work to reduce them as new skills develop and the environment changes.

Do you provide intervention, or just reports?

Both. We assess, write the plan, and deliver the intervention, training the support network so the strategies get used.
